Occupational Psychology?
For most of us, our reality consists of spending more time with our colleagues and customers on a daily basis than we do with our family, friends, and loved ones. Our work lives can have such a profound influence on the quality of our lives yet the resources, skills, and tools available to achieve satisfactions are often neglected or inaccessible.
"Occupational Psychology" refers to the specialization in psychological research focusing specifically on the behavior of people in the workplace. The five most common subject domains are sub-categorized into:
-
Psychological (Psychometric) Assessments
-
Leadership, Engagement, Motivation
-
Work Design, Organizational Change, Development
-
Wellbeing at Work
-
Learning, Training and Development
It is through a focus on all 5 of these avenues that you can accelerate the success of both the people you lead, as well as yourslef as a leader.

TESTIMONIALS
"Working with Ester was one of the smartest decisions I have ever made.
She is trustworthy, committed and so knowledgeable. Ester leads with ethical integrity in all the work she does, whether we had her consulting on human resource needs, grant supports, or policy, I always trusted her judgement and it never failed. I think it is really incredibly rare these days to find people that really get the job done and adapt to the needs of a client, which is why working with Ester was such a win for our organization. Could not recommend her highly enough."
Kathleen MacKinnon - CEO, Nine Rising
"Perhaps Ester's Most admirable trait is being open to seeing circumstances from all points of view and adapting her perspective accordingly, if needed.
She is a fine balance of confidence and humility, checking for any potential blind spots and turning them into opportunities, always striving to learn about, connect with, and be of value to others, while building win-win relationships. I have full confidence Ester will achieve all she sets out to, and know that in her path, she will share her bright light, inspiring others to also do their best and follow their genuine path."
Charlene Blais - Workforce Developer, YMCA of Okanagan
"Ester provided our board of directors with training that increased effectiveness.
Her approach was inquisitive, asking questions about what our key goals were, then creating a unique training session for our board based off those needs. She was highly knowledgeable in the training she delivered and gave us tangible takeaways which we have been able to implement into our board meetings and governance. This training has made a positive impact for our board and I highly recommend Ester to any leaders who are looking to increase their effectiveness, especially around the themes of communication and motivation"
Daniele Hofer - President, JCI Kelowna
I am extremely grateful for participating (in this program). Above all, the one-on-one coaching sessions with Ester proved to be very beneficial to me, bringing clarity on key questions and reinforcing my confidence for the next steps of my career. She also guided me on how to deal/work/coach different personalities. A real discovery. I would like for all of my SM colleagues to have the same opportunity and would value a lot additional ad hoc sessions with her in the future. I liked the diversity of topics raised during the group sessions and the fact that we were a very small number of colleagues, leading to better discussions and to getting to know each others on a more personal/deeper level.
Annie - Senior Manager, KPMG
Connecting with Ester as a new board of directors for OSIF was invaluable. She gave us the knowledge, training and confidence to provide the proper necessities to our members and organization. She creates a comfortable and open environment to talk freely and openly and worked with our team to help our non for profit thrive in the coming year and years to come. Because of Ester, we can now see a clear path of success for OSIF which will not only benefit the film community but our arts and culture sector as a whole. We would recommend Ester to community leaders looking for clarity, confidence and sustainability within their organization.
